And The Walls Came Tumbling Down: Aries New Moon 2014

The Tower (XVI)

The Tower (XVI)

What do this new moon and the battle of Jericho have in common? More than you might think.

Normally the Aries new moon would be time to embrace spring fever and charge forward with new projects, but this one is tangled up in a tricky aspect called a T-square. The sun, moon and three other planets are aligned in a triangle formation that causes a major cosmic tension. And the other three planets involved aren't just friendly inner planets. Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto are all serious change-makers. They've been laying in wait for months and now they're finally sounding their trumpets. Don't try to fight it: any walls you've built up, no matter how strong, may be about to tumble and fall.

Jupiter in Cancer is throwing a square to the new moon, which could force you into an uncomfortable stretch outside your comfort zone. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and Cancer is the sign of motherhood, so it seems to me that we're all going to be experiencing some labor pains with this moon. The spring brings new birth, but you've got to work to bring your new creation into the world. Are you being vetted for a promotion, or are you prepping for a big launch? Whatever you're working on, you're going to have to fight to bring it to life.

Pluto in no-nonsense Capricorn is also making a square aspect to the moon. Once-familiar structures crumble, and old mechanisms can no longer hold. Kiss toxic habits goodbye, whether you're ready or not. If you're caught in an unsatisfying relationship with a job or a lover, you won't be able to turn a blind eye anymore. Pluto takes away your crutches and throws the reality of your situation out into the open. The good news? Without your usual means of self-medication, you'll have to adapt.

All of that sounds very scary, and to be honest, it is. But if this moon has one saving grace, it's it's close proximity to revolutionary Uranus. Whatever changes may come with Jupiter and Pluto at odds, Uranus's presence ensures that its simply part of your evolution into the best version of yourself. This planet does come with an element of surprise, so whatever occurs may come out of the blue, but you've got what it takes to handle it.

Uranus also rules lightning, which is a symbol of enlightenment and divine inspiration. At this new moon, open yourself to wild ideas and eleventh hour insights: they may be exactly what you need to survive.

Still not sure how to cope? Here are a few preparation questions to ask your inner oracle:

1. What old structures do I need to let go?

2. What is being born in my life?

3. How can I evolve to embrace these changes?

Happy new moon & cosmic love! XX
